Olympic Rugby 7s Bronze Medalist Ashley Patzer attended the Rocky Mountain Rogues second annual Women’s Try Rugby day, which took place at New Dawn Sports Complex on March 15, 2025.

Women’s Try Rugby Day is a free public event that invites women of all experience levels to try non-contact rugby in a safe learning environment. It gives community members with the chance to give the sport a try and get to know the members of the team. This year, it was also an opportunity to meet and connect with a former Team Canada athlete!

During an interview with radio host Dennis Walker, Ashley said,

“One thing about rugby is that its so inclusive so being in a group of women who are so welcoming, so inclusive, especially with new people who have never played the spirt before, it just feels so cool to be a part of a group and learn new skills.”

If you missed the Women’s Try Rugby Day, or the Men’s Try Rugby Day on March 8th, it’s not too late! We welcome newcomers to regular training, which will begin in the spring after the snow melts. Email rockymountainroguesrfc@gmail.com for more information.
